So, Craig isn't coming home from work tonight b/c he has a meeting. So, the kids and I headed to Steak and Shake for a junk dinner. Well, Lydia wanted to eat dinner in the tent that we put up in the basement. Jake wanted to eat at the kitchen table. After a bit of arguing and me suggesting we eat at the coffee table in the family room which didn't make either one happy, Jake came up with a compromise. He suggested we build a fort in the family room with kitchen chairs and a quilt and eat in there. They were both instantly happy and Jake was proud of himself for coming up with that. I spotlighted it by a big pause and then a big, "You came up a with a compromise that made everyone happy!" and then silence.
We had a great time eating in our fort. Now we are off to play in the tent. :-)
